Join to apply for the Vehicle Test Engineer role at Tesla . What To Expect We are looking for engineers with experience in vehicle system integration/validation and/or vehicle reliability and durability validation to join our vehicle hardware validation team. Your role involves collaborating with teams across different vehicle programs to ensure the vehicle meets high performance and reliability standards. As a Vehicle Test Engineer, you will be among the first users of newly developed vehicles, serving as the key knowledge holder of vehicle validation. You will identify product failures and drive corrective actions to ensure the long-term success of Tesla vehicles. What You'll Do Conduct vehicle level structural strength and durability tests at in-house and third-party proving grounds Conduct vehicle level environmental tests like winter performance, water wading, hot weather performance, etc. Conduct vehicle level powertrain and transmission tests at in-house and third-party proving grounds Collect proving ground data using wheel force transducers, accelerometers, strain gauges, string potentiometers, etc. Analyze and process test data and check for data integrity Conduct vehicle milestone inspections including drive evaluations (handling performance, ride comfort, etc.) and investigate test failures Support firmware upgrades/troubleshooting and diagnostics for test vehicles Work closely with vehicle operators, technicians, instrumentation, reliability, simulation, and design teams Write detailed test procedures and publish test reports Iterate and maintain the test procedures for optimal field correlation What You'll Bring Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering or equivalent experience 3+ years of experience with automotive systems or competitive projects such as Formula SAE Strong fundamentals in vehicle architecture and hands-on project experience Strong communication skills and ability to work with multiple teams Experience in technical report writing and data processing Experience with CAD software such as CATIA, SolidWorks, etc. Experience with data acquisition software like HBM Somat eDAQ or Dewesoft is a plus Experience with CAN communication and/or programming is a plus Up to 35% domestic travel required; international travel may also be involved Benefits Along with competitive pay, Tesla offers benefits from day 1, including: Multiple medical plans with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption, and surrogacy benefits Dental and vision plans with $0 contribution options HSA contributions, FSA options, 401(k) with employer match, employee stock purchase plans Company paid life, AD&D, disability insurance Employee assistance, paid time off, holidays, backup childcare, and parenting resources Voluntary benefits, wellness programs, employee discounts, and more Expected compensation: $80,000 - $156,000 annually, plus stock awards and benefits.
