Job Description

The Project Policy Analyst is the central point of contact for the development, planning, and implementation of the Health Education & Advocacy Leadership (HEAL Academy), including the inaugural cohort of HEAL Academy participants. Under supervision, with support, training, and guidance of departmental staff and HEAL Academy leadership, they will learn concepts and practices necessary for the primary administrative person of the HEAL Academy and support and liase with HEAL and FCM leadership, volunteers, and external community and education partners. The incumbent supports special projects of the HEAL Academy, including operational, experiential, and teaching activities as assigned and overseen by departmental staff and HEAL Academy leadership.

This position serves as an analytical resource for the HEAL Academy, and will learn and support routine programmatic and operational functions under supervision and guidance:
  • HEAL Academy on/offboarding of program participants, events/logistics, supplies, calendaring/scheduling, program milestones, records/data/documentation, and related coordination;
  • Liaises with central UCSF and ZSFG departments including Facilities, Supply Chain Management, Human Resources (HR), and IT Service Desks and external community and education partners;
  • Provide project support for special projects as assigned by HEAL leadership; and
  • Support development of and improve workflows, and related change management for program efficiencies and/or experiential improvements/outcomes for participants.

The position requires the ability to work with colleagues to prioritize work accurately and timely and to function effectively to meet programmatic milestones, deadlines, and deliverables. Assignments are project based and the individual is expected to actively support and contribute towards programmatic outcomes; gather and sort information, identify possible solutions, and support development of work products in the form of a written recommendation or completed project. With guidance and support from department staff, the incumbent will be expected to develop working knowledge of University and Department of Family & Community Medicine (DFCM) administrative infrastructure, policies and procedures and knowledge of public health and public policy to complete a project or process. The incumbent applies such knowledge and/or training to identify issues and solve problems. The position requires diplomacy and professionalism.

Actively participate in unit- and department-level event planning, helping to facilitate the administrative and financial aspects of the events. Other duties and special projects may be assigned.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $52,800 - $64,500 (Annual Rate).

The mission of the Department of Family & Community Medicine (DFCM) is to improve health through excellence and innovation in patient care, education, research, advocacy, and community empowerment. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Skills to learn organization-specific and other computer application programs.
  • Basic communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
  • Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.
  • Basic skills to analyze and research information and learn to synthesize large amounts of data with strong attention to detail.
  • Basic program and project management skills.
  • Acquiring knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques.
