Job Title: HR Manager & Consultant

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer

Position Summary:

The HR Manager & Consultant is responsible for leading and coordinating human resources functions at Long Island Select Healthcare, with a focus on ensuring effective alignment with the agency’s mission, operational needs, and regulatory compliance. This role serves as a key liaison with ADP TotalSource and plays a strategic and hands-on role in recruitment, policy development, onboarding, employee relations, and benefits administration. The ideal candidate is a proactive consultant, supporting leadership and employees with expertise and responsiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Serve as the primary contact and relationship manager with ADP TotalSource for HR-related functions.
  • Maintain working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and trends; ensure agency-wide HR practices remain compliant.
  • Update and maintain the agency’s HR policies and procedures alignment with changes in laws, industry standards, and agency needs.
  • Manage and maintain accurate and up-to-date employee HR files, documentation, and personnel records.
  • In collaboration with the finance team, monitor and ensure the accuracy of timekeeping and leave management systems.
  • Oversee and manage Workers' Compensation, FMLA, PFL, and other employee leave programs.

Recruitment, Onboarding, and Offboarding

  • Oversee the full-cycle recruitment process, including job postings, interviews, candidate screening, and hiring coordination in conjunction with department managers.
  • Review and update job descriptions to ensure alignment with current roles and expectations.
  • Organize and lead orientation and onboarding processes to ensure a smooth introduction for all new hires.
  • Coordinate and support a structured and compliant offboarding process, including exit interviews and documentation.

Employee Relations & Support

  • Act as a resource for employees seeking information about benefits, leave policies, and HR processes.
  • Support employee relations efforts in collaboration with ADP TotalSource, including investigations, resolution of issues, and documentation.
  • Assist with the review and analysis of employee compensation structures and salary ranges.
  • Promote a positive, respectful, and inclusive workplace culture through consistent communication and fair application of policies.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • Master’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of HR management experience, with demonstrated success in the role.
  • Experience working with a Professional Employer Organization (PEO) such as ADP TotalSource preferred.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws, and HRIS/timekeeping systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to handle sensitive situations with confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ADP platforms.
